Holding Up

So first off i want to say that Netflix is the next best thing to sliced bread. If you are a lover of movies and tv shows, this is the subscription for you. Just about anything that is out on DVD is available from Netflix.

So i have been a subscriber off and on to Netflix for about 5 years. I love it, plain and simple. So lately i have been getting a lot of cartoons from my childhood to see if they hold up.

"Life is like a hurricane
Here in Duckburg
Race cars, lasers, aeroplanes
It's a duck-blur
Might solve a mystery
Or rewrite history"

(everyone together now)
DuckTales (oooh ooooh)!!!!!

Well Ducktales holds up. Its just as fun as I remember it and even with the obvious plots and whatnot its still fun. I mean come on how cool is it that one of the baddies name is Magica De Spell. The Beagle Boys! I mean those are classic kids villains. it was fun to watch the first disk of season 1. i really enjoyed it.

"I am the terror that flaps in the night,
I am the chill down your spine!
I am Darkwing Duck!"

"Let's Get Dangerous!"

For a Batman fan this is great kids show. Technically it is a spinoff of Ducktales, but that doesn't take away from it being a good cartoon. The oblivious superhero, the sidekick who always wrecks everything, the adopting of a kid. All of it is great. All of the villains are taken from either Marvel or DC but it doesn't matter, they still are great. I caught myself laughing out loud at the dumb puns and jokes. If you get a chance to visit your childhood, please put this one on the list.

So the most recent one i checked out was Silverhawk
s. It was a made by the same people who did Thundercats. Now out of all the cartoons that i've watched from my childhood, i would say this one held up the least. I remember this one being so cool and on rewatching it, it just wasn't. it was dumb downed and since it was semi serious is why it bothers me. and the funny thing is, is that at the end of every episode they would give out real facts about the universe, a la' G.I. Joe "and knowing is half the battle"
The animation is still good so if you have a 5 yr old it would still prob make him happy. all in all i really like revisiting these old cartoons, they are lots of fun even if i don't like them as much as i did when i was a kid. i guess somethings shouldn't be revisited but if they are cartoons, why not. not all of them were meant to be serious
